This season kicked off in Paris and every single day offered something new and exciting to fixate on. Step into the realm of top tier tailoring, exquisite fabrics, and high end fashion codes as I share my analysis of this year's collections debuted during Paris Fashion Week. I'll discuss trends, fashion photography, and my predictions for this year in couture. As you make your way through this case file, my wish is that you gain valuable insight and inspiration.
TRENDS

(1) LAYERING
One of my favorite trends I noticed was the use of the art that is layering.
I really enjoy when different fabrics, colors, and textures are layered because when done intentionally and exceptionally, you're not only layering cloths, you're layering vibes that coexist harmoniously and turn an outfit into a moment.
I also admire when the pieces used in layering can stand alone and still be fly! You'll see this in some of the features below.

(2) BLACK IS THE NEW BLACK
Black is the new black! I really admire when a piece is complex and intricate... and it's all black!
Black can be boring. It's safe, but it's not.
In order to achieve this, you must apply lots of attention to detail in both the design and execution processes. Therefore, I throughly enjoy and respect when a brand is able to pull this off.
The designers gave us black gowns, coats, accessories, and full on ensembles this season.
RICK OWENS FALL 2024 (look 16), ERNEST W. BAKER FALL 2024 MENSWEAR (look 20), EYTYS FALL 2024 MENSWEAR (look 16), VALENTINO FALL 2024 MENSWEAR (look 8), BALMAIN (look 34), KIDSUPER FALL 2024 (look 1), COPERNI FALL 2024 (look 23)

(3) THE OVERSIZED CUT
When executed correctly, even the most oversized piece can give STRUCTURE.
Oversized clothing is not a new trend. It is constantly evolving though, I must say.
This season gave us lots of high end, oversized outerwear and suits galore!
MAISON MIHARA YASUHIRO FALL 2024 MENSWEAR (look 34), YOHJI YAMAMOTO FALL 2024 MENSWEAR (look 19), RICK OWENS FALL 2024 MENSWEAR (look 4), GMBH FALL 2024 MENSWEAR (look 14), LOEWE FALL 2024 MENSWEAR (look 10)
THE PHOTOGRAPHY REVIEW
VAULT's top three.
ERL FALL 2024 MENSWEAR, "CRASH!".
JORDAN HEMINGWAY FOR ACNE STUDIOS STARRING YVES TUMOR.
ALIEN WANG FOR FUMITO GANRYU.
ERL, "CRASH" ON FILM
VISUAL STORYTELLING
Debuted in a series of film photos, intricately telling the story of an "American Homecoming."
The images vividly depicted scenes of a California high school, featuring models in ERL jerseys, portraying jocks, capturing lunch table moments, and embodying classic boy-meets-girl scenarios.
PHOTOGRAPHER UNKNOWN
Despite extensive research, the identity of the photographer remains elusive. I am currently on a time crunch, trying to get all of my case files out with the accompanying week of fashion. I will continue my research after the posting of this Case File, and come back with a name.
I do know that the creative and artistic director at ERL is Eli Russel Linnetz (hence the E, R, L, in ERL).
EXECUTION
The execution was masterful, evoking a genuine vintage feel through the use of grainy film photos,

ACNE STUDIOS STARRING YVES TUMOR ON FILM SHOT BY JORDAN HEMINGWAY.
WHO'S RESPONSIBLE?
Acne Studios' Fall '24 collection was unveiled through a series of captivating photos, shot by none other than (my fav) Jordan Hemingway.
ARTISTIC DIRECTION
Renowned for his distinctive style, the aesthetic characteristics of his photos can be defined by a play of shadows, dynamic compositions, and a nuanced use of colors, as we see in this collection. The photos exuded a coolness accentuated by Hemingway's signature lighting techniques, making the lighting the so-start of the show alongside Yves Tumor who served as the lone model of this collections shoot.
VISUAL QUALITIES
With Hemingways lighting and editing techniques, these photos not only serve as visual spectacles that can stand alone, but also do a stand up job at placing emphasis of the details of each piece. The photos, characterized by a mixture of raw and refined elements, elevated the collection for sure.
FUMITO GANRYU ON FILM SHOT BY ALIEN WANG.
COLLECTION UNVEILING
Fumito Ganryu's Fall 2024 collection takes the stage, as captured through the lens of none other than the visionary Alien Wang.
ARTISTIC DIRECTION and STYLE
Alien Wang, a maestro at photography, crafts a distinctive touch that is vivid, yet highly dependent on the manipulation of positive and negative space. The images are bright, yet washed, and this highlights the collection's nuances. Wang's style and mastery elevates each piece, making them stand out with an a magnetic allure. Wang's signature style breathes life into unconventional and cool poses adding a touch of awkwardness that adds seamlessly to the visual narrative. Each photo seems to capture a moment in time without props or extravagant sets.
WHAT (I THINK) IS NEXT IN FASHION
Warm colors are so in
Moving away from the Y2K aesthetic
High fashion runway shows are going to start evoking similar emotions as the pre 2000 fashion shows... the timeless allure
Textures and animal prints
Tights/leggings becoming widely popular, almost essential
Sportswear... like literal sportswear
Minimalism is out and so is quiet luxury. Either out or completely reformed
The public getting continuously pissed off at the front row appearances of influencers/celebrities that have no fashion passion, knowledge, or background
FUR CRAZY
Bras.
Elevated layering
Going blazer crazy... especially oversized.
